Aromatherapy Oils - Fennel

Botanical name: Foeniculum Vulgare
Botanical family: Umbelliferae

Part of plant used: Seeds

Origin: Mediterranean region, Central Europe, India, Japan, Asia and America

Description: Aniseed like and euphoric, powerful and pungent but sweet

Properties and Indications:

  • Diuretic
  • Digestive stimulant
  • Excellent for halitosis and gum/throat infections
  • Powerful expectorant - mucousy discharge (sinusitis)
  • Highly antiseptic especially on the respiratory and excretory systems
  • Carminative - relieves flatulence, can speed up slow digestion
  • Galactogogue - insufficiency of milk in nursing mothers
  • Thrush, cystitis
  • Excellent for hangovers - inhalations and massage
  • One of the best oils for losing weight
