Bipolar Disorder

Bipolar Disorder: It is also known as manic-depressive illness by some people. It is caused by changes in ability to work, person’s mood and energy. This is a serious problem of brain.

Symptoms of this disorder include patient has performed poor in job or school, damaged the relationships and try for suicide. People with this disorder can be treated. More than 1% of population is affected by this disease.

Commonly young women and men are affected. Sometimes symptoms of this illness develop during childhood and disease produce late in life. This disease also occurs for a long period like heart disease and diabetes.

Types of Bipolar disorder:

Bipolar I disorder: It is caused by more than one major depressive episodes and one or more than one manic episodes. Severe Bipolar I disorder is developed by extreme manic episodes.

Bipolar II disorder: It is caused by Hypomanic episodes. Symptoms of hypomanic episodes are just like symptoms of manic episodes.

Causes of Bipolar disorder:

There is no only one cause of this disease, so many factors can be developed this illness. Family history is a cause of produce bipolar disorder. Specific genes may be influenced how the brain and body work and transmitted through generations and producing the Bipolar disorder.

Signs and symptoms:

  • Excessive irritation
  • Changes in behaviors, energy and mood
  • Less concentration
  • Poor judgments
  • Abuse of drugs such as alcohol, cocaine and sleeping medications
  • Increased sexual drive
  • Talking very quickly and always jumping from one thought to another.
  • Experiencing of hopelessness and guilt
  • No interest in enjoyment
  • Bad thoughts such as suicide
  • Severe pain and unexplained aches

Diagnosis of Bipolar disorder:

Health care providers will be recommended blood test and brain scan for diagnosed this illness. Mainly diagnosis of this illness depends on the causes, symptoms and heredity.

Treatment:

Treatment depends on the causes and symptoms of Bipolar disorder. Various therapies can be used to treat Bipolar disorder. Psychotherapy and medication are effective to treat Bipolar disorder. A patient with Bipolar disorder may be sure to tell about having all symptoms to the health care providers.

If any member of your family had this type of illness, you should tell your doctor. Maintain peace environment around the patient. A patient keeps activities such as eating balanced diet, sleeping and exercise.

Avoid watching television, parties and animated conversation. Don’t drink coffee, cola and eat chocolate and avoid alcohol etc. You should think positive thoughts and be optimistic
