Meditation - Journey Meditation

Journey Meditation, as its name puts it, is a technique wherein the person pictures herself in a place that is quiet and peaceful, away from the hassles and bustles of everyday life.

Here’s how to do it:
  • Find a position you are comfortable with. It’s either sit straight on the floor or on a chair.
  • On the floor, allow your back to lean against the wall.
  • On a chair, place feet flat on the floor and let your hands rest on your thighs or knees.
  • Have a pen and paper beside you and right down the things that worries you, your problems and concerns, and promise yourself to deal with them as soon as you finish meditating.
  • Take a deep breathe. Inhale slowy for five counts and exhale slowly for five counts.
  • Close your eyes and think of a peaceful place you want to be in that exact moment. Imagine a place that is tranquil and beautiful.

  • If you sense any distraction entering your mind, just be reminded that you will deal with them after meditating. A garden filled with butterflies can be a nice place. And also, the setting of the sun seen through a deserted beach can also be quite a good place to be in. You could hear the splash of the water in the sand, the soft breeze sweep through your face, and you can see the wonder of God’s creation. Practicing this twice a day is a lot of help. It eases tension, clears the mind with all the worries of the day, and it simply makes your day so refreshed that you’ll have energy again to get back to work and live a happy and peaceful life.
