BRACHYTHERAPY FOR PROSTATE CANCER

Brachytherapy is a procedure in which radioactive material sealed in needles, seeds, wires, or catheters is placed directly into or near a tumour.

Brachytherapy is also called internal radiation, implant radiation, and interstitial radiation.

Interstitial brachytherapy is one method used to treat early localised prostate cancer, with the aim of cure. (Alternative methods used include radical prostatectomy and external beam radiation.)
