more tips on digestion

A good digestion is a prerequisite for good nutrition,which, in turn is the foundation of good health.Indigestion leads to chronic constipation and even chronic diarrhoea.It has been said that constipation is the root of all chronic diseases.

So i am putting a lot of emphasis on digestion.Indigestion causes toxicity in the body,nutritional deficiencies,accumulation of filth in the colon etc.Therefore one needs to change one 's way of eating and living
.

Below are some points to keep in mind for healthy digestion and to avoid constipation-

1) Eat natural foods. If you are a rice eater , the rice must be unpolished.
2) Take an adequate quantity of vegetables and fruits(about 250g. of vegetables and in each meal and fruits in a separate meal).
3) Dietary fibre derived from cereals has a special value in ensuring smooth, regular bowel movement. eg- bran is recommended.
4) Avoid fried foods and hot spices.
5) Get into the habit of going to bed early and also getting up early.
6) A glass of water ,warm or cold, before visiting the toilet will be helpful.
7) Give up smoking.It is wrong to think that smoking helps to clear the bowels.Actually it is the other way around.The urge you feel when the rectum is full is a nerve reflex action.
8) Unless it is absolutely impossible, never put off answering a call of nature.Otherwise the rectum gets habituated to lodging stools.This causes constipation in the long run.
9) Regular exercise is necessary.Lead an active life.
10) Drink at least 3 liters of water everyday.
11) Avoid purgatives-purgatives are drugs to induce the bowels to expel the stools.The repeated use of purgatives will deprive the bowels of it's capacity to move normally of it's own accord.Hence have to be restored to again and again. Hence are harmful in the long run.
