Natural Skin Care

What better way to treat your face, hair and body than by adopting a natural skin care regimen. The skin is the largest organ in our bodies therefore it makes sense to feed it with nature's pure ingredients and not bombard it with chemical preservatives, additives, and artificial ingredients.

These natural skin care recipes can be made at home and many ingredients, if you don't already have them in your kitchen cupboard, can be found at your local health food store, supermarket, pharmacy or from my list of recommended Aromatherapy Supplies. For recipes which include fruits, vegetables, and herbs choose the freshest ingredients you can find and always choose organic where possible. Even better grow your own herbs and veggies!

You don't need any special equipment and most things you will already have in your kitchen. Things you will need include measuring cups and spoons, glass jugs, a fry pan, a funnel, a small whisk, and some jars and bottles for storing your products.

If you are going to get serious about making your own natural skin care products I would suggest having separate equipment to your usual kitchen utensils. Either way, always ensure your equipment is thoroughly clean. If you intend to store your products for any length of time I would recommend that you also sterilize the containers you store your products in.

To sterilize simply boil up a pot of water and sit the glass jars and bottles in the boiling pot of water for 20 minutes. You can fish them out with clean tongs. Alternatively you can use a solution which is used to sterilize babies' bottles. This is useful for plastic jars and bottles also. This ensures a longer shelf life and less chance of your products containing bacteria and mould. Disclaimer

Thoroughly wash your hands before you start any preparation.
