smoking-it's side effects!

"It may be hard, but the best thing you can do for a beautiful, glowing complexion is to stop smoking. Smoking both dehydrates and deprives your skin of oxygen, so you will see real benefits - skin will become smoother and more radiant"

Along with sun damage and hard living, nicotine can add years to your appearance. When we inhale just one puff of cigarette smoke, more than a trillion free radicals are produced in our lungs, which then trigger an inflammatory response that circulates throughout the body.

Most people are aware that smoking can kill. They know that smoking causes heart attack, stroke and lung cancer. But how is smoking linked to these often fatal illnesses.

Smoking causes a fatty build-up in the blood vessels. These fatty deposits result in narrowing and blockage of the blood vessels. If the blood supply in blood vessels that lead to the brain are blocked, the surrounding brain cells will die resulting in a stroke.

adverse effects take place when the blood vessels leading to our heart are blocked by fatty desposits. This cuts off the blood supply to the heart muscles. As a result, the tissue in that area will die and hence, a heart attack occurs.
  • Smoking can wreck your lungs and reduce oxygen available for muscles used during sports.
  • Smokers run slower and can't run as far, affecting overall athletic performance.
  • Tobacco smoke can make your hair and clothes stink.
  • Tobacco stains your teeth yellow and gives you bad breath.
  • Short-term use of spit tobacco can cause cracked lips, white spots, sores, and bleeding in the mouth.
  • Surgery to remove oral cancers caused by tobacco use can lead to serious changes in the face. Sean Marcee, a high school star athlete who used spit tobacco, died of oral cancer when he was 19 years old.
  • Despite all the tobacco use on TV and in movies, music videos, billboards and magazines - most teens, adults, and athletes DON'T use tobacco.
  • Don't waste (burn) money on tobacco. Spend it on CD's, clothes, computer games, and movies.
